If you find that our responsive ad code doesn't do everything you need, you may modify your ad code to better meet the requirements of your responsive site. The following examples show you how to correctly make these modifications.
This example shows you how to modify your responsive code to set specific ad unit sizes for three ranges of screen widths, i.e., mobile, tablet and desktop. You don't need to have any previous experience of CSS media queries or modifying AdSense ad code to follow this example.
With responsive display ads, you can upload your assets (images, headlines, logos, videos, and descriptions), and Google will automatically generate ad combinations for websites, apps, YouTube, and Gmail. Responsive display ads can be used in Display campaigns.
Responsive ad tag parameters allow you to change the behavior of your responsive display ad units. For example, to specify a general shape that your ad unit should conform to. To use responsive ad tag parameters, you typically make a small change to your responsive ad code. For example, you might change the value of the data-ad-format parameter from \"auto\" to \"rectangle\". Unlike advanced responsive ad code features, you don't need make multiple code changes or use CSS media queries.
By default, our responsive ad code includes a data-ad-format tag with the value of \"auto\" which enables the auto-sizing behavior for the responsive ad unit. However, you can set a general shape for your responsive ad unit by changing the value of data-ad-format to one of these values: \"rectangle\", \"vertical\", \"horizontal\" or any combination of these separated by a comma, e.g.\"rectangle, horizontal\".
The data-full-width-responsive parameter determines whether your responsive ad unit expands to use the full width of your visitor's mobile device screen. Depending on how you use the data-full-width-responsive parameter, you can make your responsive ad unit behave in different ways.
We recommend that you set the data-full-width-responsive parameter to \"true\". Doing so will make your responsive ad unit expand more frequently to the full width of the user's screen on mobile devices. This setting has the maximum potential for increased revenue.
If you don't want your responsive ad unit to automatically expand to use the full width of the user's screen on mobile devices, you may set the data-full-width-responsive parameter to \"false\". Keep in mind that by doing so, you may decrease your potential earnings. Our experiments show that full width responsive ads perform better on mobile devices in portrait mode.
Even when the data-full-width-responsive parameter isn't present in your ad code, your responsive ad unit will still expand to the full width of the user's screen on mobile devices in some instances. Although it won't do so as frequently as when the parameter is present and set to \"true\".
Display ad units are responsive by default. They allow you to support a wide range of devices (i.e., computers, phones, tablets, etc.) by automatically adapting the size of the ads to fit your page layout. Regardless of which device users use to visit your site, display ad units can help you provide a great ad experience.
Automatic sizing based on the space available. To make your code simpler and save you time and effort, our responsive ad code automatically adapts the ad unit size to your page layout. We calculate the required size dynamically based on the available space and the size of the user's display.
The same misconception exists about using the sizeMapping code to deliver ads based on the device. While it is highly probable that a browser width of 320 pixels is equal to a smartphone, it could also be just a narrow browser window on a desktop device. If you really need to traffic ads to different devices instead of the available space, use the Device targeting within your Google Ad Manager account.
You can serve responsive Google AdSense ads in both synchronous as well as asynchronous (non-blocking) fashion. The latter is a more efficient and recommended method as the JavaScript ad code loads in parallel and therefore does not block the other elements of the web page from rendering. In other words, your pages will load faster improving user experience.
Images are the most crucial element of responsive display ads. It is critical that they appear in the highest quality possible. The success of your ad depends on it. So make sure your images are as clear as possible.
Google responsive display ads come with an advanced format option to automatically generate videos using your assets. When selected, Google will create a video by combining your images, logo and text assets.
Google makes it really easy to turn your responsive display ads into retargeting ads. All you need to do is attach a feed (i.e. database of your products and services) to your campaigns. Then let Google take care of the rest. Learn more about how to create a feed for responsive ads.

Adsense may not have an ad they would recommend for your site at that time. If you feel that there may be an error with the code you can check using the Google Adsense Troubleshooter to ensure the ad is set up correctly
Did you add this to the ad's HTML You are not supposed to change the ad code. For data-ad-format=\"auto\" the ad will adapt to the container's size. Simply remove what you added to the ad code and change the container instead. In your case, the div.
Google Ads will replace this code with the location in your ad group. You can select 1 location for your headline and up to 2 in your descriptions. You need at least 3 headlines without location insertion, or you can use default text. You can select to set up locations for city, state, and country.
A couple months ago, Google told publishers they are allowed to modify the AdSense code to make the ad units work well with responsive design web pages. This unit type should now ease the concern around that allowance.
Website developers, who use Google ad sense for monetizing their websites, are faced with the task of how to make their ad sense units respond as well to the varying dimensions of user's screen size. Fortunately, Google has recently introduced responsive ad units which, if implemented correctly, can blend well with your responsive website pages. Google's responsive ad code automatically adapts the ad unit size as per your page size and layout. Google dynamically calculates the desired ad dimensions based on the width of the ad unit's parent container, and accordingly renders the most suitable ad size.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can embed Google's ad code so that it becomes responsive. This implementation method also takes care of re-adjusting ad sizes, when the user changes the orientation of his device which causes a change in the layout of the web page.
Copy and paste the ad code at appropriate location in your web page's HTML source, where you would like the ad to appear. This should be pasted in one of your DIV containers. Note that you must ensure that the DIV container must have an explicit width set, so that Google can calculate the required size for the responsive ad unit. You may use media queries to set the size of the DIV container for different screen sizes. The sizes can even be a percentage of screen width. The Google ad unit will dynamically inherit the width of the parent DIV container and render the closest sized ad that matches the inherited width.
After placing your ad code, test on different devices and screens to check that the ad is indeed responding to varying screen size. You may even re-size the browser window in your PC and re-load the page to check the ad display for different screen widths.
You can look to see if your theme has a widget area already available right before your content (some do), or you can install a plugin that will help you place your ads. Different plugins give you various options to put codes that automatically show up in different spots on your webpage. Some of them even do all the work for you and all you have to do is grab your publisher ID number from AdSense. Elegant Themes wrote a post on AdSense* along with some reviews of various plugins.
For new websites to be processed and start showing ads, make sure all the details are set up correctly within the account. As an example, your payment information needs to be current and valid and you must have installed the code on your site.
To make sure your code is accurate, go to your AdSense account, click Ads Overview, and select Ad Unit. Find the ad unit you want to check in the Existing Ads Unit table, and click Get Code. Compare that to the code on your website.
After all of this is done, you will need to click save and copy and paste the code on your site. You will need to put the code between the and header tags on your site. To get optimal exposure, Google recommends you place the AdSense code on every page across your entire website.
On the WordPress menu, you can go to Appearance > Widgets and use the Custom HTML widget. Drag it where you want to show it in your sidebar, and then copy and paste your Google AdSense code inside the widget box.
This will let you add the code to your site without having to access files and will also manage the process of displaying ads for you without you having to use widgets. It also gives you a Gutenberg block for ads so you can add them wherever you want in your posts.
Now get back to your Google AdSense account and copy the code that Google gives you to link your site. Return to WordPress and copy it into the PAGE SECTION INJECTION ON EVERY PAGE field.
In your site, paste the code into the relevant field in the Posts tab. If you want to create two ad units of different dimensions for mobile and desktop, you can paste different code into each field. Or if you want to insert the ad on mobile and desktop, paste it into both. 59ce067264
